State of the Union blues

I didn’t listen to this week’s State of the Union speech, as usual. Maybe I suffer from a character flaw but I can’t stand the stupid thing. As I’ve argued before, this anachronism should be abolished.

People think this speech is required by the Constitution, but it’s not. Here are the exact words of Article 2 Section 3 of the Constitution:
“He shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient...”
That’s it. Nothing about a speech and nothing about the doggone thing being done annually...
