When George Bush ran for president in 2000, the mainstream media brought up the issue of “gravitas.” Remember that? They thought he lacked it, believed he needed it, and decided he was trying to acquire it on the sly by picking Cheney as his running mate.

You see, everybody knows Dick Cheney has gravitas the size of bowling balls – enough for ten normal men, or two Hillary Clintons. He helped Bush get through his first eight months in office, sort of a presidential puberty, then the 9/11 attack happened and Bush grew his own gravitas. That’s how it happens with men sometimes – they grow ‘em when they need ‘em...
