With 11,000 years worth of perspective we can see that temperatures have generally been higher than they are
currently during the Holocene epoch, and the last 3,000 years show a dramatic decline. Is that worrisome? Yes,
it is. Human civilization dates entirely within the Holocene, and that's no coincidence. Humans do better in warm
conditions than they do clambering around on mile-thick glaciers. Graph 5 puts the balmy Holocene in perspective.
